Some new initiatives were announced to drive the message of safety for all on the roads.

On 1 November 2024, the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) held its annual fundraising dinner to raise funds for road safety education programmes in Singapore and celebrated the SRSC’s 15th Anniversary at its Fundraising Golf and Dinner 2024.

The event was graced by Guests-of-Honour Mr Murali Pillai, Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Transport for the golf tournament, and Mr Melvin Yong, Chairperson of Government Parliamentary Committee for Social and Family Development, Member of Parliament for Radin Mas SMC, for the dinner.

Over the years, SRSC has grown significantly in the realm of road safety, launching numerous impactful campaigns and initiatives aimed at various road users. Flagship events such as the Singapore Road Safety Month, Singapore Traffic Games, Singapore Road Safety Awards, etc have successfully engaged a wide audience, including children, seniors, motorcyclists, and the general public. These initiatives have played a crucial role in fostering a culture of road safety across Singapore.

A new Road Safety Jingle was unveiled to remind all road users of the safety and gracious behaviour on the roads, and to practise patience and consideration.

Recognising the importance of road safety, SRSC announced the establishment of a Road Safety Taskforce. The taskforce aims to raise awareness and concerns by sharing timely advisories through social media platforms and physical displays, and work to promote responsible behaviour amongst caregivers and their children.

Collective efforts from road safety stakeholders highlighted the shared responsibility of enhancing road safety awareness and education. At the dinner, AA Singapore and other corporations and individuals raised over $500,000. The funds raised will support SRSC’s initiatives, which aim to reduce traffic accidents and promote safer road practices among all road users in Singapore.

Road safety is every road user’s prerogative regardless of age, and everyone must play a part in looking out for your own and other road users’ safety. As part of the ongoing efforts to promote road safety, AA Singapore, in collaboration with various government agencies, including SRSC, Traffic Police, Land Transport Authority, and Ministry of Education, will be developing a comprehensive Road Safety Playbook. This playbook will compile road safety theories and advisories, providing the public, especially children and caregivers, with accurate, practical and easily accessible information on staying safe on the roads.
