The Automobile Association of Singapore (AAS) held its Annual General Meeting on 21 May 2026 at YWCA Fort Canning. The meeting was chaired by AAS’s President, Mr Bernard Tay, who gave an overview of the milestones the Association achieved in the last year.
Mr Tay would like to thank AAS Members for their continued trust and support in the Association, which is strong motivation to continually improve and deliver better experiences and greater value for them.
One of the key highlights of 2025 was the Christmas Pop-Up Fair, held at AA Centre. The Association brought together a diverse range of unique vendors, from health services and products to lifestyle offerings, food and beverages, as well as engaging activities designed for children and families, ensuring there was something for every Member.
An ongoing initiative for the Association to stay in touch with Members, the birthday draw, continued to prove effective. “Over the years, it has remained a simple yet thoughtful gesture of thanks, reinforcing our commitment to building enduring and more personal relationships throughout each Member’s journey with us,” Mr Tay reported.
Roadside Assistance Services
The statistics for these services were encouraging, with service volume increasing by 5.12%, alongside a higher restart rate, demonstrating the commitment to faster service, average response times improved significantly — by 11% for mechanical assistance, and 27.3% for towing. These improvements were driven by ongoing enhancements in deployment strategies, coordination processes, and closer collaboration with service partners.
Europcar Singapore
The numbers for Europcar Singapore were good, too, with a 6% increase in bookings. This reflects a steady increase in interest among the Members in flexible and convenient travel options. The top outbound booking destinations were Australia, Malaysia, Italy, Great Britain, and Germany, indicating a mix of regional and long-haul travel preferences. The Association’s partnership with Europcar will continue to strengthen its value proposition by providing Members with seamless access to reliable car rental options both locally and internationally.
Autoventure
The Association’s popular Autoventure Fly-Drive programmes continued to see strong participation, which led to an expansion into a wider range of destinations. In 2025, AAS marked a key milestone with our inaugural Fly-Drive Round Iceland expedition, embodying our passion to deliver unique and enriching travel experiences. At the same time, the Association has also introduced shorter Fly-Drive itineraries across East Asia and Southeast Asia, offering more flexible options without compromising on experience.
The programmes now include specially curated, personalised tours tailored to individual participants as well as corporate groups so as to better meet diverse travel preferences and organisational needs. This further strengthens the ability to deliver meaningful and differentiated travel experiences across both leisure and corporate segments.
RoadPlus+
AAS launched RoadPlus+, a new overseas car rental excess insurance solution, to help Singapore motorists better manage the financial risks associated with renting vehicles overseas. It covers excess charges arising from damage to the rented vehicle, including underbody damage and wheel or tyre damage. It offers unmatched policy access supported by a dedicated local team. This enhances our expanding portfolio of mobility and travel-related services and broader strategy beyond traditional roadside assistance into travel risk management and mobility-related insurance solutions.
VEP Application Assistance
Another new initiative, Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) Application Assistance, was launched to support AA Members and enhance their experience when travelling to Malaysia. By helping the Members with this important step, AAS makes cross-border travels seamless and hassle-free, enabling Members to focus on enjoying their journey. This reflects the Association’s broader commitment to anticipating Members’ needs and delivering practical, value-added services.
The Association is also working with partners to extend its service support into West Malaysia. This will enhance cross-border coverage for our Members, ensuring that Members are better supported when travelling beyond Singapore, and providing greater assurance throughout their journeys.
As 2025 marked SG60, Singapore’s 60th birthday, the annual Overseas Safe Driving Forum and the AAS Charity Fundraising Dinner was held on the same day, 6 September 2025. This special event marked a significant milestone in our nation’s journey, promoting the values of unity, progress, and compassion. It was graced by Guest-of-Honour Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and this special day brought together AAS’s Members, partners, donors, and beneficiaries, while taking the opportunity to advance our advocacy for road safety.
Mr Tay said that the Overseas Safe Driving Forum — which welcomed foreign guests from FIA and its affiliated motoring clubs, along with road safety experts — focused on equipping drivers with essential skills to safely navigate diverse driving scenarios and environments when driving overseas through real-world insights and tips.

As for the Charity Fundraising Dinner, it served as a key platform to rally support for community causes. Proceeds received were distributed to six charities: ACES Care Helplife, Allkin Family Service Centre, APSN Ltd, Autism Resource Centre, Singapore Road Safety Council, and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities. These Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs) serve diverse causes, from supporting seniors to build social connections to championing road safety awareness and responsible driving behaviour.
The Association also took the opportunity to launch a book during the dinner to address a rise in traffic accidents. The School Road Safety Playbook, a book that the Association produced in collaboration with the Singapore Road Safety Council, Ministry of Education, Land Transport Authority, Singapore Police Force, FIA, and FIA Foundation, serves to raise awareness and reinforce road safety habits, not only among students, but also among parents, caregivers, and the wider community.
Road Safety Efforts
Road safety remains a top priority for the Association. AAS co-organised Singapore Road Safety Month, Singapore Road Safety Awards, and Singapore Traffic Games with Singapore Road Safety Council, fostering and nurturing road safety habits in the community. The Association also supported LTA Bus Safety roadshow, furthering the efforts and raising awareness and promoting safety among commuters and road users.
In 2025, the AAS Academy continued to strengthen road safety capabilities through structured training and education, conducting 24 sessions of the Vehicle Systems, Modifications, and Inspection Course, as well as seven sessions of the Crash Prevention Course for Richland Logistics. The Association also remained actively engaged with partners to deliver safe driving programmes to AA Members, corporate partners, and the wider public. At the organisational level, the Association worked closely with the FIA to raise awareness of the FIA Road Safety Index, including organising an industry engagement session to introduce the framework and its applications to local stakeholders.

One success story was AETOS Holdings Pte Ltd, which was assessed under the FIA Road Safety Index and awarded the highest rating (Level 3), the first organisation in Asia to achieve this recognition. This milestone reflects growing awareness and adoption of structured road safety frameworks within the industry. We are looking forward to more companies participating in this benchmarking matrix aimed to increase an organisation’s insights on the impact of their operations on road safety and reduce fatality and severe injuries caused by road crashes.
Digital Competencies
The Association made substantial investments to strengthen digital competencies in its workforce:
- Staff were required to attend AI Awareness Workshops, which equipped them with foundational knowledge to navigate an evolving technological landscape and enabled them to better support our Members through more informed and adaptive service delivery.
- The launch of Business Central, which modernised the Association’s CRM infrastructure to better support upcoming enhancements to the IDP, Resqme mobile application, and the Jackpot system.
Looking Ahead
In 2027, it would be the 120th anniversary of AAS, and we are expecting it to be a busy and exciting time for the Association. As the Association enter this next chapter, we remain committed to strengthening our services and deepening our engagement with Members.
