HYUNDAI AVANTE HYBRID
The highly popular – and sensible – Avante gets a hybrid version, and not a moment too soon. Hyundai’s angular profiles now permeate through the ranges, and it’s arguably here that started this trend. The upgraded Avante Hybrid lines are enhanced now by exterior sideview mirrors with power-folding and LED turn signals, LED rear combination lamps, thin-profile front LED headlights, a stylish quarter glass cover for the rear windows, and 16-inch alloy wheels and tyres.
Hyundai’s ever-improving interiors are also prevalent in the car. The soft-painted interiors touch on the eco-friendly artificial leather seats, which have added ventilation in the Elite trim. The driver’s seat has an eight-way electronic control and memory system (only available in Elite trim), while the rear seats have their own USB-C charging ports.
The Avante Hybrid’s 10.25-inch cluster display and 8-inch audio display provides all you need to know and more about the car’s operations and infotainment options. Phone Projection allows the main features of your smartphone to be available on the interior display. And when you need to top up the juice on your phone, the wireless smartphone charger (only available in Elite trim) will certainly come in useful.
The 1.6-litre hybrid engine is at the heart of the Avante Hybrid, and the car now puts out 104HP and 265NM of torque. The hybrid system offers a boost in fuel efficiency and the car can now go 21.1km on just one litre of petrol. This fuel efficiency is aided by a regenerative braking system where kinetic energy on deceleration is converted into electrical energy to charge the battery.
Hyundai SmartSense’s driver assistance and safety features are found in the Avante Hybrid. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist monitors the surrounding and warns you if there is a risk of colliding with an object like a car in front, cyclist, or pedestrian. It also helps with automatic braking. Blind-Spot Collision Assist sounds a warning with a rear-side vehicle in the blind spot while changing lanes. And Rear-Cross Traffic Prevention Assist warns you if there is a threat of colliding with a vehicle coming from the left or right when reversing. Safe Exit Warning is a useful feature that warns you of an approaching vehicle when exiting the vehicle after a stop.
