Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) introduced the FIA Road Safety Index for the transport fleets of Singapore’s companies and organisations to measure their safety footprint.
On 10 October 2024, the Automobile Association of Singapore (AA Singapore) hosted the AA-FIA dinner presentation, bringing together key stakeholders from various logistics, transport, and fleet organisations in Singapore. The dinner presentation provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration on the critical issue of road safety, with a focus on how businesses can enhance their safety practices and contribute to a safer road environment for all.
Mr Luca Pascotto, Head of Road Safety and Global Advocacy at the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), was invited to share insights on the FIA Road Safety Index. Adopting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the index aims to act as a benchmarking tool for companies to evaluate and improve their road safety initiatives.
During the event, Mr Luca outlined how companies can foster a stronger road safety culture, reduce risks and create a safer working environment for employees. The FIA Road Safety Index provides a practical framework for measuring road safety impact, in the same way as how organisations track their carbon footprint. The Index has gained recognition for its effectiveness and won an NCAP Innovation Award in 2024. Its continued global expansion and adoption are expected to play a decisive role in improving road safety worldwide.
At AA Singapore, leading the implementation of the programme in Singapore, presents a unique opportunity to partner with FIA in deploying effective evidence-based road safety intervention. Through this collaboration, the Association aims to drive meaningful progress in enhancing road safety practices, both locally and globally, reinforcing the Association’s commitment to creating safer roads for all.
As the FIA Road Safety Index continues to gain recognition and traction, AA Singapore is keen to work with more companies in Singapore to integrate the Index into their road safety strategies. By participating in this initiative, businesses can not only improve their own safety standards but also contribute to the wider goal of reducing road accidents and creating safer roads for all users.
