Highway gets a sneak preview of the pre-trip briefing for the 98-day AUTOVENTURE™ London-Singapore Expedition Drive happening this August

Driving from London to Singapore is no walk in the park. Organised by AA Singapore, the 98-day trip is one of its AUTOVENTURE™ packages. On 17 June 2023, a pre-trip briefing was held at the AA Centre for the 33 adventurers.
Officially known as AA’s 98-day Autoventure™ London-Singapore Expedition Drive 2023, this marks the second London-Singapore drive that AA Singapore has organised. The inaugural London-Singapore Expedition Drive took place in 2019 to commemorate the Bicentennial Year of the founding of modern Singapore and the beginning of a new era for the United Kingdom. Following its success, this year’s drive will continue the legacy, with the flag-off ceremony held in London.

Scheduled to take place from 6 August to 10 November, the driving holiday trip consisting of a convoy of 12 cars will cover a staggering distance of 25,000 kilometres, with participants traversing from the United Kingdom through 19 countries before returning to Singapore. This is an increase from the previous expedition which covered 21,000 kilometres and crossed through 16 countries.

To ensure the participants are well-prepared, AA provided the participants of each car with a comprehensive road book, consisting of over 600 pages during the pre-trip briefing. The road book contains detailed information on the route itinerary and essential trip-related information. Additionally, the tour leader conducted a thorough briefing on the road safety aspects, diverse weather conditions and driving culture in the different countries they will be travelling to. This ensured that the drivers could make the necessary preparations and adjustments for a safe and enjoyable journey.

The official flag-off ceremony for the expedition drive will be held on August 6, 2023, at the Intercontinental London – The O2 Hotel, with His Excellency Mr Lim Thuan Kuan, the Singapore High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, gracing the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
