In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, AA Singapore delivered a sweet surprise to the staff of Singapore General Hospital to keep their spirits up.

On Thursday, 26 March 2020, AA Singapore’s President Mr Bernard Tay and CEO Mr Lee Wai Mun presented 1,000 cupcakes to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to acknowledge the untold sacrifices made by doctors, nurses and other staff in their fight against the highly contagious Covid-19 virus in Singapore. Also present during the presentation was Professor Tay Boon Keng, a General Committee member of the Association, who is also the Emeritus Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at SGH. Receiving the gift on behalf of SGH was its Chairman of the Medical Board, Dr Ruban Poopalalingam.Said Mr Tay, “On behalf of the Automobile Association of Singapore, I would like to thank all the frontline workers for their hard work, especially so during this global outbreak. We are extremely grateful for your efforts to protect the Singapore citizens who are in need. As a form of encouragement and in recognition of your efforts, the Association would like to present these cupcakes as a small token of appreciation for you to keep fighting this battle. Together, Singapore can combat this. Thank you.”

While the frontline staff are battling the outbreak, the Association encourages all Members and staff to download the TraceTogether app, to help Singapore speed up contact tracing via a community-driven approach to identify close contacts of users.
