A Year of Growth and Innovation

6 min read

The Automobile Association of Singapore (AAS) held its Annual General Meeting on 28 May 2025 at YWCA Fort Canning. The meeting was chaired by AAS’s President, Mr Bernard Tay, rounding up a year of stability and meaningful progress for the Association.

“2024 was a steady year for AAS,” Mr Tay said. AA Members’ continued trust and support inspired innovative ideas, growth and better services. One of the key highlights of 2024 was the AA Bazaar. With the support of over 20 partners, we brought vibrant life to a marketplace where Members were able to network, collaborate, and foster deeper connections with one another within the community.

More Insurance Coverage

AA Insurance broadened its coverage by unveiling a new plan dedicated to pets — PetCare. Launched in 2024, PetCare is a flexible and comprehensive plan that covers up to 80% of veterinary bills and includes added benefits such as wellness compensation and third-party liability coverage. The plan also features enhanced options under Ultipaw and Pawsh, offering higher coverage limits to ensure AA Members’ pets receive the best protection available.

In-house Workshop

AA Centre launched their 2KC Workshop. It is equipped to provide Members with service and repairs, from pre-trip vehicle inspections to premium car detailing services in partnership with Halo Collective. This new facility enhances the car care experience for Members.

Europcar Success

With the growing interest in travel, AA’s first year of operating the newly acquired Europcar Singapore Franchise was met with great enthusiasm from Members. The partnership allowed for special and exclusive rates of car rentals, enhancing convenience and affordability for Members’ travels.

Roadside Assistance

In 2024, AAS received over 20,000 Roadside Assistance requests from its Members, a testament to the continued trust in their services. Notably, we achieved faster response times and a higher rate of successful vehicle restarts, marking significant improvements in service efficiency and reliability.

It was also announced that AAS is broadening its services to better accommodate hybrid car owners. In 2025, the Association introduced an upcoming service that provides a comprehensive health check and revitalisation of hybrid car batteries.

Roadside Assistance is also seeing an enhancement in the coming future: a partnership between Autoswift Recovery and a service provider will extend towing coverage into West Malaysia, offering Members added peace of mind when driving across the border.

Autoventure

2024 marked a fulfilling year for the Autoventure (AV) team, continuing to deliver unforgettable and enriching road trip experiences for Members.

In partnership with Hyundai Motors, the team embarked on a 14-day driving journey through South Korea in March. The AV participants had the exclusive opportunity to experience Hyundai’s latest innovations in eco-friendly electric vehicles. Building on the success of the trip, a second journey took place in March 2025, where participants had the chance to try Hyundai’s newest technology in their fuel cell SUV for a glimpse into the future of clean and sustainable mobility.

Another highlight is the 58-day Expedition Drive to Tibet, Everest Base Camp, Xinjiang and Beijing. The journey offered a rich and unique cultural backdrop, weaving participants through Malaysia, Thailand and Laos.

Road Safety Efforts

Promoting road safety remained a cornerstone for the organisation, continuing to champion initiatives that foster safer roads for all. Throughout the year, impactful campaigns were rolled out to shine a light on reckless driving, pedestrian awareness, and safe speed limits.

AAS co-organised events like Singapore Road Safety Month, the Singapore Road Safety Awards, and the FIA Road Safety Index Dinner, each contributing meaningful industry dialogue on embedding road safety into sustainable practices.

Together with the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF), AAS co-organise the Singapore Traffic Games. The aim was to nurture the next generation of road users. More than 300 students participated in interactive activities and a newly launched educational video, gaining valuable traffic knowledge in an engaging, hands-on setting.

Through AAS Academy, the commitment to advance road safety extended beyond Singapore’s borders. In collaboration with Michelin, we conducted eco-driving and safe-driving courses in Vietnam to promote sustainable and responsible driving practices. Locally, we also organised crash prevention workshops for logistics and transport companies, supporting safer operations within the industry.

Additionally, a new campaign supported by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), ‘Drive in the Moment’, was introduced. In collaboration with Nanyang Polytechnic, a survey was conducted to better understand driver distractions. The initiative encourages drivers of all experience levels to become more aware of unsafe habits and take proactive steps towards safer and more mindful driving.

Cybersecurity

With the expansion of services, it is also important to keep operations secure. AA invested in regular cybersecurity training, reinforcing its digital systems and developing a clear operations training roadmap to ensure that the team stays ahead of the curve in the continuous evolution of cyber threats.

AA Membership Offerings

AAS made a mark on the industry with new collaborations, allowing it to tap into new markets and enhance offers. Focusing on enhancing the travel experience for valued Members, strategic partnerships were formed with key tourism organisations like the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Jeju Tourism Organisation, Korea Tourism Organisation, and the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS).

Beyond travel, AA also partnered leading automobile brands and enthusiast communities to deepen Member engagement. Highlights included participation in events such as the High Life 4×4 Custom Car Showcase, Skoda Club Singapore’s 5th Anniversary Celebration, and the Sim Racing Association of Singapore’s Open House at AA Centre.

To connect with the next generation of consumers, AA introduced Youth and Social Memberships tailored to younger individuals. This initiative contributed to accelerated membership growth and fostered stronger ties with future Member segments.

Community Support

AA continued its commitment to the education sector. It continued to recognise outstanding graduates from Nitec in the Automotive Technology course through the Automobile Association of Singapore Book Prizes, and ITE College West’s token scheme, which provides meal tokens for underprivileged students.

SG60 Celebrations

To commemorate the occasion, a fundraising dinner will be hosted, with the event costs fully covered by the Association. Every dollar raised from attendees will be channelled directly to the supported charities, amplifying the impact of this meaningful initiative.
In the same spirit, AAS will be organising an Overseas Safe Driving Forum in partnership with like-minded organisations
