Celebrate the Season: Where to Catch Christmas Light-Ups & Festive Events in Singapore

5 min read
Singapore lights up spectacularly for Christmas, and 2025 is no different, with dazzling light displays, festive pop-ups, and holiday events happening across the city. From Orchard Road’s iconic light-ups to themed markets and shows, here’s where to catch the best seasonal cheer this year.

As the year draws to a close, Singapore’s Christmas celebrations light up the island with colour and joy. Shimmering displays, festive music, and open-air markets bring a touch of magic to the everyday, turning familiar streets into dazzling destinations for locals and visitors alike.

Orchard Road: Christmas on a Great Street

The heart of the action remains Orchard Road, famed for its annual Christmas On A Great Street light-up, which runs from 8 November 2025 to 1 January 2026. The 3.1km stretch is decked out in festive lights themed around celebrating Singapore’s 60th year of independence, featuring iconic local motifs like the Merli mascot and traditional festive motifs.

Visitors will find immersive photo spots such as the Toa Payoh dragon playground installation and a giant wreath at Wisma Atria. The highlight here is the two Christmas Villages set up along the route, complete with carnival rides, games, and food stalls offering festive treats and craft beer. At the heart of these villages stands a 14-meter Mastercard Christmas tree, accompanied by nightly snowfall shows at 8 pm and 9 pm, adding magical winter vibes to the tropical city. Weekend live performances create a festive soundtrack from mid-November to New Year’s Day.

The Orchard Road Christmas Eve street party is another major draw on 24 December. This free event features music, stage games, and DJs that pump up the festive spirit. It’s a prime spot for families and friends looking to celebrate the season with communal joy. With restaurants along the route, it’s easy to combine dinner plans with a stroll under the sparkling lights.

Beyond Orchard Road, Gardens by the Bay offers a distinctly magical experience with its Christmas Train Show housed in the Flower Dome. This event presents charming model trains from different countries against a backdrop of festive trees and poinsettias. The setting inside the cooled conservatory provides a cosy, wintry feel, unusual for Singapore’s tropical climate. Admission is at the usual Flower Dome rate, making it suitable for families wanting a quieter holiday outing.

The Gardens by the Bay Christmas Train Show takes place from 23 November 2025 to 4 January 2026 in the Flower Dome, running daily from 9am to 9pm. Visitors will need to purchase a ticket for entry to the Flower Dome; standard admission rates apply, which are typically S$12–S$20 for adults and S$8–S$12 for children/locals. The Great Christmas Village at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza is an official event on the Orchard Road Christmas calendar. This year’s event runs from 9 November 2025 to 1 January 2026. Organisers promise a lively setup with carnival rides, family-friendly games, festive food stalls, and entertainment.

Although some may refer to it as a “European Christmas Market,” it is a Christmas Village that focuses on its festive atmosphere, variety of activities, and decorative photo spots rather than a specific European market theme. The event is organised in partnership with Kiztopia and is featured on both the official Orchard Road Christmas website and Kiztopia’s event listings.

Sprawling over 20,000 square meters, it offers nine festive zones inspired by Santa’s reindeer and the Christmas constellation. Families can enjoy live Christmas musicals, international cuisines, artisanal markets, and community activities. Giant candy canes and real Christmas trees set a festive mood throughout the lively space.
