May/June Edition

Dear AA Members,

Happy May Day to you!

We are facing an unprecedented time in history as the COVID-19 pandemic became a worldwide crisis within weeks. It has impacted each of us in terms of our personal lives and businesses.

The Association has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and with the implementation of heightened safe distancing measures during this period, we would like to inform you that the General Committee has decided to defer the AGM from May to a later date after the restrictions are lifted. We seek your understanding that the General Committee has not made this decision lightly, given the current circumstances and evolving COVID-19 situation; all considerations have been taken to safeguard the well-being of our Members.

During this challenging period, we continue to provide our essential service of roadside assistance for our Members while complying to the measures imposed by the Government. We have implemented safe distancing measures and ensured that our crew screened their temperature twice daily as well as wearing masks and gloves when responding to roadside assistance requests from Members.

As the Government implements the Circuit Breaker, our backend employees continue to provide our Membership services, Insurance services and offer Academy training programmes through remote sites. Members may experience slower response and longer waiting time for our service and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this together during these uncertain times. Members may find out our available services amidst COVID-19 on our website. The Association also encourages all Members to download the TraceTogether app, to help Singapore speed up contact tracing via a community-driven approach to identify close contacts of users.

On behalf of the Association, I would like to assure you of our commitment towards the continuity of services amidst the COVID-19 crisis, even as we safeguard the interest and health of our Members and the community. As part of our encouragement to the medical workers, the Association presented 1,000 cupcakes to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) prior to the implementation of Circuit Breaker. The cupcakes serve as a token of appreciation as well as support to the doctors, nurses and other staff who are fighting against the battle for Singapore.

We are also offering complimentary webinars, such as ‘Driving during Covid-19 Circuit Breaker’, to all Members, where our trainers from AAS Academy share practical tips and Dos & Don’ts on driving during this critical period. Through these webinars, Members can also learn more about Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act and its regulations, and how you can be in the know and compliant with the law. Members may check out the available sessions and book a slot for your next webinar session here.

I am pleased to announce that albeit the circuit breaker situation, the Association has also rolled out an AA Membership Circuit Breaker promotion. We have designed this promotion in view of catering to those who require Roadside Assistance Service or in the event if they experience a vehicle breakdown during this Circuit Breaker period.

We have continued our AA Spot Your Car (SYC) contest via online so that you can continue to participate in our contests! During this period, you may simply drop us an SMS, and you will stand a chance to win attractive prizes. Do keep a lookout on our social media – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more information!

We thank you for your support and trust in us during this period. Stay safe, calm and vigilant at all times.

Here’s wishing our Muslim Members Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri in advance.

Best wishes,
Bernard Tay
President, AA Singapore
