EV drivers can now charge their vehicles at the AA Centre.
As Singapore begins to see the transition from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles (EV), AA is pleased to do its part by installing EV chargers at our centre. The decision was made in support of the Singapore government’s move towards electrifying the road system.
Last year, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Mr Heng Swee Keat set forth the goal of creating 28,000 charging points, a significant infrastructure surge from the 1,600 currently available. The direction we are moving in is in line with other cities around the world. As cities mature, they are beginning to realise the need for greener transportation. As transport is a major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions, the immediate solution to environmental pollution is the greening of the transport sector.
The government is prodding more drivers towards driving vehicles operating on cleaner energy. EVs are pegged to make travelling around the city more sustainable. They not only reduce carbon emissions, but also have zero tailpipe emissions. This means that, unlike ICE vehicles, EVs emit zero pollutants, promising better air quality.
As more drivers here opt for EVs, many more charging points are needed. The chargers we have installed are rated DC30, and are capable of providing a 0–75% charge in 60 minutes (40kW battery). As your vehicle is being recharged, you can make yourself comfortable in our Members’ lounge and partake of the refreshments there.
HOW TO USE
The chargers are enabled by a simple, easy-to-use app called PlugIt, which is available in both Android and iOS stores. Simply download it on your mobile phone, sign up for an account, and use the app to start/stop charging. Find out more at: https://www.aas.com.sg/our-services/ev-charging.html
